I have naturally curly, frizzy, boofy hair so I blow dry it straight and then straighten over the top of that but am always on the hunt for a bit of volume as I am not so handy with a hair dryer and round brush.
Speaking of hair dryers, on Wednesday afternoon I caught The Husband using my hair dryer to dry his suit pants which he was spot cleaning and then it started to smoke and smelt like burning rubber so I am in the market for a new one. Any recommendations? I hear the Parlux is fantastic.
Anyway, back to it.
I bought the Kevin Murphy Powder Puff product a few months back on eBay, which promised instant easy volume but I was pretty doubtful, I won't lie.
I've tried a heck load of products which promise volume, but do you think they ever worked?
No. They did not. What a waste of money, not to mention space in my cabinet.
I searched YouTube for some good reviews and tutorials but found pretty much jack nothing.
Figured I might as well do my own! Enjoy.
This product is magic, but don't take my word for it, watch the video!! I am dead set impressed.
I want to try the Kevin Murphy Colour Bug next!
I rate it 10/10!

I followed FF and bought a parlux 3800, it's great! You won't regret it I promise :-) Mine is red, of course :-) http://www.missdirections.com/2012/02/must-slow-down.html
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh when I read about you seeing Faux Fuchsia!
DeleteOkay I am definitely going to get a parlux. Which website did you order yours from?
http://www.ry.com.au/
DeletePretty happy with the service and delivery, price was the best. 3800 is $153.95, 3500 is $143.95 and 3200 is $135.95. Have read the 3500 and 3800 are pretty comparable, but I wanted red, so I paid the extra $10 for the later version.
I second this.
Deletery.com.au is great.
they have a 5% discount code too VOGUERY.
Thanks guys, ry it is!
DeleteI'm fairly sure I need to block your blog from all of my computers/phones/tablets etc, as I just keep buying things I never even knew I needed!
ReplyDeleteThis product sounds great!
Hahahahhaa sorry :P At least I'm not alone in spending.
DeleteOhh me too. I may have stalked your YouTube channel a few days ago, watched this video and then went and bought one.
DeleteThe Parlux is brilliant! It cuts drying time significantly.
ReplyDeleteLove mine! :-)
It sounds like a winner!!

Deleteconcur with this...I got my parlux from ry.com
DeleteDon't know what brand it is, I just know it has Turbo in it LOL. I bought that for my sister. I think between $100 and $150? It's not Parlux, I know that.
ReplyDeleteOn the day I straighten my hair, it has a bit of volume but come day 2, pancake head.
Don't Schwartzkopf have a similar product (I think Heidi Klum plugs it).
That sounds like the one I have now, Turbo250 or something like that.
DeleteOh yeah the ad of her with ample cleavage? Haha I can't remember the product but remember the ad.
I've been using the schwartzkopt one.. Seems like the exact same product and only $8.00 or so. It may be a bit smaller though!
DeleteOh this looks great!! I've just had my hair chopped from my bra strap to a lob, I'm all about big hair at the moment. Will have to give this a go. It looks like your hair stays quite natural and bouncy? Not stiff from like a hair spray??
ReplyDeleteI have a parlux (pink of course), you won't look back xx
It's not stiff at all! It's kind of like putting dry shampoo in your hair, you don't feel it.
DeleteI need to check out Parlux!
I love Kevin Murphy products. It's one of the brands that actually LIVE UP to their claims. AND they have a volume range for coloured hair which not many brands do.
ReplyDeleteMy HD used the Powder Puff on me last time I went to get a chop (yonks ago now!) and it was awesome.
As for hairdryers - I bought mine from Hairhouse Warehouse about 8 years ago. It's one of those black ones that all the hairdressers have and it's the BEST hairdryer. It's so old but it's still going strong and is super powerful.
I've only just discovered Kevin murphy but so far so good!
DeleteDefinetly parlux but do look online
ReplyDeleteI got mine from the UK 1/2 the price
yey!! I want big hair! I'm getting it :)
ReplyDeleteoh and I have seen someone do a review on the Kevin Murphy colour bug and it looked awesome too. I'm guessing his whole range must be good.
DeleteI got it in purple today!
DeleteI have a navy Parlux and I love it. Nothing leaves my hair smoother. But yes another one with pancake hair here. Hope Kevin Murphy is my savior.
ReplyDeleteGive it a go and get back to me!
DeleteLove my Parlux!
ReplyDeleteHair dressers use them so they must be good!
I'm going to get one! Curly hair until then...
DeleteIt sounds like it might be the same as dry shampoo? I use dry shampoo to give my hair a nice boost and volume even when its not oily (and it's probably cheaper too!)

I don't get volume from dry shampoo :( :(
DeleteI need to get thissss my hair is flat flat flat :( I just got the Frederic Fekkai Full Volume shampoo and conditioner, quite good if you are in the market for a volumising shampoo/conditioner! But my hair doesn't stay big all day from just using this xxx ps your videos are super cute
ReplyDeleteI'll look at that range, thanks!
DeleteHaha I still feel silly doing them!
Girlfriend. Get thee a Parlux. Seriously!
ReplyDeleteNice volume x
Consider it done!!
DeleteLove your video reviews - love hearing your voice little sis xx
ReplyDeleteYou say it like you are forgetting what I sound like :( :(
DeleteNever! Its just hearing it for real makes me smile x
DeleteIt looks very similar to my Schwarzkopf Osis powder, it gives me great volume too. I might try this one once I've finished my Osis
ReplyDeleteOh I haven't heard of this one!
DeleteYou can get way more volume than how I demonstrated, I'm just tame haha.
I adore my neon green Parlux 3800 it is awesome, Adore Beauty has them which is where I got mine from - I also picked up the Kevin Murphy Color Bug in the purple, in the same order and love it! Definitely love Kevin Murphy products and am inspired to check this out now :-) great little review!
ReplyDeleteI just got the purple color bug! Cannot wait to use it!! Thanks :)
DeleteDamn it now I want a new hair dryer grrr too much spending
ReplyDeleteTell me about it :(
Deleteohh I need this! I have short hair too and after I straighten it it's quite flat. definitely going to give it a go.
ReplyDeletedoes the powder show up in your hair at all? I have dark hair too and I know when I put dry shampoo in it looks a bit like I'm going grey.
Nope not at all, it goes on kind of whitish but then goes translucent! Believe me, I don't use anything that makes it look like I have more dandruff than I do!
DeleteOkay first off I LOVE your accent!!! How freaking cute are you! Second, I'm totally buying this! Love it.
ReplyDeleteHaha I don't even think I have an accent :P
DeleteIt is really good stuff!
I really love your hair Mez. My hair is very limp. I have tried a few volumising powders but none have done the job well enough. I am definitely adding this to my wishlist. X
ReplyDeleteHi! Just wanted to report back to you and share my total love for Powder.Puff -- I purchased some on eBay last week after reading your review. It arrived in the post today and of course I had to give it a test-run at work (haha)... it is MAGIC. I have a longish bob similar to yours and now I have the best secret weapon against flat boring bob-ness. Thanks heaps for the rec :) (I need to get a blog up and running one day soon so I don't have to post as a dodgy Anon. I read DD all the time and have tried so many products after reading about them here!)
